Bakary Y Badjie, the National People’s Party (NPP)’s candidate for the upcoming mayoral race in the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), said one of the reasons he wants to be Mayor is because KMC deserves better leadership.
Answering a question posed to him by the panel on For the people, by the people show, on why he wants to be mayor of Kanifing Municipality, Bakary Y. Badjie, who is also the current Minister of Youth and Sports, said the issues that made him run for mayor in 2018 still persist, and that includes lack of leadership at the helm of KMC.
“The reason is the same reason we had in 2018 to be convinced to contest the mayor. The same issues still exist. We think that the Kanifing Municipality (KM) deserves better leadership. There are all opportunities we can tap that we want to come in and tap on those opportunities and be able to deliver services to the people. And we believe that until today, our plans for the municipality are still in the same way. That we do not have proper roads, we do not have enough Markets in the municipality, the young people do have community facilities that they need to be able to be out there and exercise their skills and a lot more needs,” the NPP candidate told For The People By The People Show on Sunday.
Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie is the current Minister of Youth and Sports. He is running to unseat the incumbent mayor, Talib Ahmed Bensouda.
