Kiang Central Constituency: NPP Top Brass Accused Of Campaigning For Independent Candidate
By Buba Gagigo
Fafa Sanyang, National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for Kiang Central in 9th April Parliamentary election alleged NPP top brass of campaigning for his opponent (an independent candidate).
He alleged that Seedy Njie, Saihou Mballow, Demba Sabally and Seedy Lamin Bah campaigned for his independent candidate Hon. Yunus N. Bah who defeated him (Sanyang).
“The party selected me to be their candidate and the right thing to do was for the party executive to support me. Seedy Njie, Saihou Mballow, Demba Sabally and Seedy Lamin Bah were campaigning for the independent candidate secretly. They gave a brand new car to Seedy Lamin Bah, which I am told is from the State House. That’s what my driver told me. They sent Seedy Lamin Bah to Kiang Central because that’s where he votes, and I feel Seedy Lamin should vote for the NPP as long as he is supporting the party. If you don’t vote for the party, then you are no longer in the NPP. This group from NPP campaigned for Yunusa secretly. Even the newly appointed Minister Rohey John Manjang can justify this because it was difficult at the time. However, I told her to leave things with me because I am a politician. But just two or one day to the election, they came. Maybe they thought I would make things difficult for them,” Fafa Sanyang revealed on Kerr Fatou’s ‘Politic Kaacha’ on Tuesday.
On the newly appointed cabinet by President Adama Barrow, Sanyang said many people in the National People’s Party are not happy with the composition of the cabinet.
“A lot of people are angry at the NPP after the cabinet appointment. All the parties in this country want to govern. The NPP is the Party in power. We should feel that this is our government. The President can take technocrats or intellectuals but it should be based on NPP rules. If you don’t do that it will destroy other things. The NPP should see themselves in the cabinet and it should not even stop at five people. They are showing Gambians that the party has no policy,” Fafa Sanyang argued.
Fafa Sanyang was the candidate for the National People’s Party (NPP) for Kiang Central constituency in the last Parliamentary election but lost to Independent candidate Yunusa N. Bah.
