Kanifing Municipality on Monday morning [today] got a new Deputy Mayor in the person of Binta Janneh-Jallow.
Elected councillors at the Kanifing Municipal Council have voted Binta to the position during a general council meeting held earlier today.
“…councillors exercised their authority to elect a new Deputy Mayor. I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Binta Janne-Jallow, elected councillor of Bakau Newtown-Fajara ward, would be taking the role of Deputy Mayor, effective immediately,” Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda announced on Monday.
The election of the elected councillor of Bakau New Town- Fajara ward at the general Council followed the resignation on 23rd July 2021 of then Deputy Mayor, Pa Musa Bah, the elected councillor of Latri Kunda Yiringanya at the KMC.
Bah’s resignation from his Deputy Mayor Position was based on personal grounds according to the Mayor Bensouda.
