Justice ministry denies recommending suspension of GFF executives
The Attorney General’s Chamber and Ministry of Justice said on Friday that they are concerned about reports circulating in the media that they have advised the suspension of the Gambia Football Federation executives.
The National Sports Council of the Gambia has last week suspended the three executive members of the GFF on claims that they were involved in an allege tax fraud.
NSC claimed the suspension of Lamin Kaba Bajo, Ebou Faye and Bakary Jammeh was based on advice of the National Assembly Select Committee on Sports but the lawmakers dismissed their claims on Thursday.
The NSC also claimed their decision to suspend the GFF trio was in line with an advice from the justice ministry.
“This office wishes to make it clear that it made no such recommendation,” said the ministry in a press release.
“The legal opinion issued by this Ministry neither made any finding of criminal culpability against the said three officials nor made any adverse recommendations against them.”
