It is about 2 year since Yahya Jammeh left the Gambia but victims of his rights violations are still nursing their scars. For some, they are left with permanent scars of his regime.
For the first time since its establishment in 2017, the Centre for Victims of Human Rights Violations has organised a photo exhibition displaying images taken of victims of human rights violations of the former ruler.
The images were taken from a cross-section of people but mostly within the Greater Banjul Area. The photographers were Helen Florio, Helen Jones Florio and Katherine Taylor.
The exhibition was attended by several prominent Gambians including Hassoum Ceesay, the curator and executive director of National Centre for Arts and Culture and executive secretary of Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission, Dr Baba Galleh Jallow.
Ayesha Jammeh, one of the programme officers at the Victim Centre, said the exhibition will help people put faces to names of people whose rights were abused by former President Jammeh.
