“Increase Your Prisons” -Ebrima Dibba Says They Will Not Accept Govt’s “Bogus” Commission
By Buba Gagigo
Ebrima Dibba, the Deputy National Organizing Secretary of the United Democratic Party (UDP) said they will not allow anybody to intimidate them in this country and urge the President to increase his prison capacity and clear graveyards, because they will not allow him to violate their rights.
Mr. Dibba made these comments as the Government established a commission to investigate the conduct of local government councils.
“Whatever is behind we will take it. No one will play with anyone again in this country. If you want you can increase your prisons and clear the graveyards. We will not accept you violating our rights. Because You know you will not win the local government elections, that’s why you brought up this bad idea. Death or alive we will take it. Train your PIU Officers and do whatever you want, you will not succeed.
“We will win all the Area Councils and continue the work we started and if you want to come between us and whatever is there, we will accept it. Enough is enough. Who are you? Who do you think you are? You said you are more powerful than Yahya Jammeh because you have the soldiers, ECOMIG. Please load your guns. This commission is bogus and fraudulent. Whatever fight you want, we are ready for it. Am the one who said it and if you want, come and arrest me tomorrow,” he said in a WhatsApp audio message distributed to numerous forums.
Ebrima Dibba said president Adama Barrow always has the intention and always said he will destroy UDP. To this end, he calls on the President to leave his party alone if he cannot reward them back for making him president;
“UDP is the reason you are known in the world today and for you to be called a president. If you cannot pay UDP then leave them alone. But to lay plans on how to destroy that party? If you are not mindful all your intentions will come back to you,” he warned.
He said President Adama Barrow wanted to use the interim committee three months before the election to fight the UDP mayors and chairmen but that plan failed after the supreme court ruled in favor of the Mayors and the chairpersons.
“UDP was very wise because we always follow the law. We went to the supreme court and the Court ruled that they should not interfere in local government affairs. He knows also he will not win any position in this country that’s why he wants to establish a commission,” he continued.
On the composition of the new commission established by the government, Ebrima Dibba said the president only appointed people who hate the UDP to be on the commission;
“He took people who hate UDP to lead the commission. He said March, April, and May is the time that people should on the campaign trail. That is the time he wants the commission to do its work. That’s why I always say ‘No one’s mother has better marriage than another ‘. Do you think if it doesn’t go your way you can do what you want?
“That will never happen here. You said you will establish a commission to bring people who hate UDP and point cameras on UDP hard-working people. The work that the UDP mayors and chairmen did in this country has never happened in this country. You want to belittle those people and you think we will accept that? We will never allow that to happen. If you do something that should not happen, what should not happen will happen,” Dibba warned.
President Adama Barrow’s government recently established a commission of inquiry to investigate the local councils. The commission which is expected to complete its inquiry within three months is constituted of the following members: Jainaba Bah Sambou as Chairperson, Samba Faal, Oreme E. Joiner, Baba M. Leigh, and Sukai Secka Sagnia.
