GPF Reverses Decision to Withdraw Magistrates’ Orderlies
By Buba Gagigo
The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has reversed its earlier decision to withdraw police officers assigned as orderlies to magistrates, following a threat of a sit-down strike by the magistrates.
The initial decision, reportedly made last week by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), sought to remove security officers assigned to magistrates across the country, except for Principal Magistrates. This move sparked significant concern among magistrates, leading to discussions of industrial action, sources told Kerr Fatou.
In a statement to Kerr Fatou, GPF spokesperson PRO Sisawo confirmed the policy reversal
“I can confirm to you that the Gambia Police Force (GPF) has revised the decision to withdraw Police Officers as orderlies to Magistrates”. PRO Sisawo told Kerr Fatou.
