Gov’t Reveals What Alleged Coup Plotters Wanted To Do To Cabinet Ministers

In a press briefing on Thursday, the government of the Gambia revealed that the alleged coup plotters wanted to arrest Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials to use them as hostages to prevent any foreign intervention.
“The coup plotters also intended to use media propaganda to promote their take over, arrest Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials to use them as hostages to prevent any foreign intervention. They also had plans to retire all senior military officers from the rank of major and above and restructure the Gambia Armed Forces,” the National Security Adviser Abubakarr Suleiman Jeng said.
The National Security Adviser Abubakarr Suleiman Jeng made these revelations at a press briefing today where he declined to take questions from journalists.
