Gov’t Announces ‘Set-Setal’ Will Hold Every Month Again

Rohey John Manjang, the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources has on Monday announced that her ministry and partners have agreed to commence the monthly cleaning exercise (Set-Setal) on 28th January 2023 at 9 am.
The Environment Minister made these revelations on Monday 16th January 2023, at the opening of a daylong media sensitization training at the National Environment Agency’s head office in Kanifing.
“The greater percentage of this Set-Setal will be focused on the Greater Banjul Area, that is where we are having not only the biggest mess but the attention of the people that visit the Gambia so that being the case the greater attention is going to be given to Banjul, Brikama Division and the Kanifing Municipality
“I also call on the Ministry of Health to give all the support they have done so far and to help in implementing this initiative on Saturday 28th January 2023. The media and the general public as a whole are invited to clean every corner of our doorsteps on our premises in ensuring that the objective is attained.) She said.
Mariatou Dumbuya, Senior Program officer at the National Environment Agency (NEA) said With the new edition of the nationwide Set-Setal, drivers will not be allowed to ply the roads from 9 am to 1 pm. Vehicles on emergency errands are exempted.
She said sporting activities and other social activities are restricted during the Set-setal period, saying if anyone is found wanting, he or she could face penalties.
