Government Gives Additional Funds To Scorpions

After progressing to the quarterfinals of the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the Gambia Government has announced releasing D27.5 million to the Scorpions.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) made the revelation on its Facebook page on Wednesday Evening.
“The Government of the Gambia under the leadership of H.E President Adama Barrow has released Twenty Seven Million and Five Hundred Thousand Dalasis (D27, 500.000) to cover the budget deficit of Gambia’s participation in the ongoing African Cup of Nation tournament in Cameroon,” the government announced
The statement said the amount was disbursed by the Ministry of Finance to enable the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) for the AFCON to cover the expenses related to qualification and match bonuses for the players and technicians, accommodation, feeding, among others, for officials, fans, and journalists who are part of the Gambian delegation in Cameroon.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports under the leadership of Honourable Bakary Y. Badjie wishes to extend appreciation to the Honourable Minister and leadership of the Finance Ministry and the entire government for the continued support in this, so far, successful journey,” the statement concluded.
