Government Approves Brikama Area Council Youth Representative After One-Year Delay

The Ministry of Lands, Regional Governments, and Religious Affairs has approved the nominations of Binta Senghore (Binzy) as the Brikama Area Council (BAC) Youth Councillor and Ms. Ndey Saine as the Councillor for the Differently Abled, after a one-year delay.
BAC Chairman Yankuba Darboe explained that the delay in the swearing-in of Binta Senghore and Ndey Saine was due to the late submission of their nomination papers to the Ministry of Local Government and Lands, not because of a petition from the West Coast Region Youth Committee.
“Finally, my nominees for Youth Councillor, Miss Binta Senghore (Binzy), and Differently Abled, Ms Ndey Saine, have had their nominations endorsed by the Ministry today, after one year’s wait! They will be duly sworn in on Tuesday, 28 May 2024 at BAC!,” BAC Chairman Darboe announced on Facebook.
The two new councillors will join Bubacarr S. Jammeh, the business representative; Omar Darboe, the farmers’ representative; Fa Lalo Touray, the chiefs’ representative; Sarjo Sanneh, the representative for women gardeners and market vendors; Alhagie Bah, the livestock representative; Ramou Sabally, the women’s representative; and Sheriffo Sonko, the transport representative.
