Global Parliament of Mayors Welcomes Mayor Bensouda

The Global Parliament of Mayors welcomed the Mayor of Kanifing Municipality (KM) Talib Bensouda who recently joined the body, a letter dated 7th June 2022 stated.
“Being The Gambia’s youngest mayor, he assumed office by delivering tangible improvements by entering sustainable partnerships with the private sector, securing grants from donors, and more than doubling revenue collection.
“He has worked on reducing malaria, eradicating child labor, expanding the market, and supporting small businesses. Mayor Bensouda has won a €3million grant to support the circular economy and build a library and innovation hub, while being on track to introduce an urban bus service later this year” the letter said.
The body expressed excitement to work together with Mayor Bensouda and the city of Kanifing on empowering mayors and cities to solve global challenges.
The Global Parliament of Mayors is a governance body of, by and for mayors from all continents.
It builds on the experience, expertise and leadership of mayors in tackling local challenges resulting from global problems.
The Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe is also a member of the Global Parliament of Mayors.
