GID Inaugurates New Office At Kairaba Station

The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) on Friday opened a new office at the Kairaba police station in the Kanifing Municipality on Friday.
The newly built structure is meant to provide a very conducive working environment for the Immigration officers at the Kairaba police station; and to ensure effective cooperation between the personnel and citizens.
Among others, senior security officers, community elders and youth attended the inauguration.
Sulayman Kujabi, GID Commissioner for Kanifing Municipality said the station was sponsored through a self-help initiative by GID and philanthropists and said the office would facilitate their work immensely.
“This station represents a very significant enlargement of Gambia Immigration
Department, Strategic Plan 2019-2024, under Goal 8, Construction and renovation of immigration offices that will support our day to day activities, in fulfilment of our mandate as an institution,” he said.
The representative of the IGP, Omar Darboe said the inauguration of this office could not come at a better time than now, as it would help to improve the service delivery of Gambia immigration Department to the citizenry; especially residents in the area.
“The officers deployed here [Kairaba Station]; it is your duty and responsibility to ensure that this unique structure is property taken care of. The Inspector General of Police and Director General Immigration will conduct periodic assessment and monitoring of the office complex to ensure that all facilities in the stations are in good order,” he urged.
Delivering his inaugural statement, Seedy M. Touray, the Director General of the GID said the inauguration is by no means accidental but the result of their conscious and collaborative effort, which put life to cherish.
