GID Implements New Measures to Manage Surge in Passport Applications

The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has announced that it will be implementing new strategic operational plans to enhance processes, bolster security measures, and improve the efficiency of passport services for the public.
In a statement, GID informed the public that the recent increase in passport applications has prompted the implementation of strategic operational plans to streamline processes, enhance security, and deliver a more efficient service.
“The Gambia Immigration Department wishes to inform the general public of a recent surge in passport applications over the past weeks.
“In ensuring the efficient and secure processing of these applications, the Department has implemented strategic operational plans designed to streamline processes, enhance security measures, and provide a more efficient service to the public. Please note that processing of passport application involves several stages which include: submission of application forms, interview, enrolment, verification, approval and production. These procedures require due diligence and alertness,” GID announced.To further improve efficiency and ensure smooth operations, GID announced that applicants will be scheduled for interviews and enrolment on separate days. This new approach is designed to reduce delays, allowing staff to work more effectively and providing a better experience for applicants.
“The Department remains committed to serving the Gambian public. Recently, our staff often works overtime and further provides services on Saturdays. However, we kindly request your patience and understanding as we work to process your applications as quickly as possible,” they said.The GID also urged applicants to attend their scheduled appointments and to fully cooperate with staff during the application process to ensure everything runs smoothly.
“With concerted effort, we can ensure a robust and efficient passport application process,” they concluded.
