GDC accepts resignation of its ex-deputy leader, 7 others

42

The Gambia Democratic Congress has issued a press statement on Tuesday announcing that it has accepted the resignation of its former deputy party leader, Yusupha Jaiteh, and seven others.

Eight members of the party have resigned couple of days ago, claiming it is lacking the right leadership.

Below is the entire statement:

The GDC party wishes to inform the general public that it has accepted the voluntary resignation of our former colleagues in the struggle for change for a better Gambia. We would also like to extend our appreciation to all of them for working with us for the past years.

However, the party also wishes to inform its members and well wishers that only Yusupha Jaiteh, former deputy party leader and Adama Manjang, out of the eight (8) who resigned, were among the Central Executive Committee.

The rest of them were executive members of sub-committees within the GDC set up. Notwithstanding, this isn’t what we prefer but as a democratic party, we can only respect their will and wishes and thank them for their efforts and service for the party.

We appreciate their decision and wish them all the best and success in their future endeavors.
