Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) Director of Press and Public Relations Lt. Col. Lamin K. Sanyang has confirmed that Gambian and Senegalese authorities met on Sunday to discuss the implementation of the Presidential Council Meeting Resolutions.

The meeting was held at the border village of Tranquil on the Senegalese side, and was attended by officials from both governments, including the Permanent Secretariat of the Senegalo-Gambian Border Commission.

“Please be informed that officials from the Gambian and Senegalese governments, including the Permanent Secretariat of the Senegalo-Gambian Border Commission, met this Sunday 15 October 2023 at the border village of Tranquil on the Senegalese side to discuss and work on the implementation of the resolutions that were agreed by both sides during the last Presidential Council Meeting held in Banjul. The hosting of the meeting was a directive by the two heads of state for both sides to constructively engage each other to resolve all issues relating to the border, sensitization and protection of citizens along the border, among other things. I will provide you with the rest of the other information about the meeting tomorrow,” the army PRO said.

The meeting came a few days after a stand-off between the Gambia and Senegalese soldiers at the border village.
