Gambia Police Investigate Armed Robbery at ElHella Shop in Banjul

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into an alleged armed robbery that took place at ElHella Shop on Hagan Street, Banjul, at approximately 9:08 AM.

According to a police press statement, preliminary findings indicate that two suspects -one masked and the other unmasked -arrived in an ash-colored BMW with no number plate and parked opposite the shop before carrying out the robbery.

CCTV footage from the scene reportedly shows the suspects entering the shop, brandishing a pistol, and threatening those inside before escaping with D1,245,000 and 1,650,000 CFA. The suspects then fled the scene in the same vehicle.

The Gambia Police Force has assured the public that an active investigation is underway and has called on citizens to assist in identifying the suspects and their vehicles. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to report to the nearest police station or call 9968885.

The police have also pledged to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
