The Gambian media fraternity is mourning the death of two journalists, Pa Modou Faal and Musa Ndow who died in a car crash in the Lower River Region.

Following the news, Gambian journalists took to social media to mourn the sudden death of the duo.

“The spate of fatal road accidents in the country is becoming alarming. I’m really shocked and devastated. The Gambia and the media in particular is indeed mourning. [I] couldn’t believe that my two former colleagues at the defunct Daily Observer Newspaper are gone. Musa Ndow and Pa Modou Faal were not only colleagues at my former work place, but they were brothers to me. Until we meet again, rest in eternal peace. We will surely miss you. Our prayers will always be with you,” Momodou Jawo, a senior reporter at the Point newspaper posted.

While Sang Mendy, Managing Director of Media Academy for Journalism and Communication (MAJAC) wrote: “Musa was my classmate at the Gambia Press Union School of Journalism now called Media Academy for Journalism and Communication while Pa was a board member of the same institution when I took over as manager. Their death hit me hard.”

Another prominent journalist, Hatab Fadera wrote: “Our hearts are heavy! Our family, the defunct Daily Observer former staffers, are devastated! We are lost for words to express the deep pain and sorrow over the untimely passing of former colleagues Musa Ndow and Pa Modou Faal.”

The duo worked for the Daily Observer newspaper until its closure by the Barrow government based on tax arrears.
