Gambia confirms 2 new Covid-19 cases, as Senegal registered 99 new cases

The Ministry of Health, today, confirmed two new coronavirus cases in The Gambia, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 28 with one death.
Speaking during the Ministry’s daily Covid-19 briefing today, Modou Njai, Director of Health Promotion and Education at the Ministry of Health, revealed that one of the two new confirmed cases was reported from North Bank Region. Adding that both cases were confirmed when the individuals were in quarantine for having a recent travel history from locations with ongoing community transmission, after their respective neighbors reported their presence within the communities to the Covid-19 response team through the 1025 hotline.
Meanwhile, the Senegalese Ministry of Health today reported 99 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the county’s total infection to 4, 417; 14 in serious condition, 2, 699 recovered, 49 deaths and 1,678 under treatment.
Not withstanding, the Senegalese Minister of Air Transport, Alioune Sarr, said after they have repatriated their compatriots who are being stranded in France and Turkey, those in Italy and USA would equally be coming back with a special flight – Delta Airline between 11th and 12th June. The arrangement was made by the Senegalese government.
