The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that The Gambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Dr. Momodou Tangara, recently visited the Islamic Republic of Mauritania as a special envoy of President Adama Barrow. The visit aimed to discuss the welfare of Gambians residing in Mauritania and to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations between the two nations.
According to an official statement, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to deepening diplomatic ties and ensuring the well-being of Gambians abroad. The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain open communication and establish a ministerial joint commission to oversee the implementation of agreed-upon measures.
During his visit, Minister Tangara also delivered a special message to His Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of Mauritania, reaffirming the longstanding ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The discussions underscored the importance of ongoing collaboration between The Gambia and Mauritania in addressing key diplomatic and migration-related issues, further solidifying their historic relationship.
