Fourteen NPP Aspiring Councilors In KM Tender Credentials To IEC

Fourteen (14)  National People’s Party (NPP) aspiring councilors in the Kanifing Municipality (KM) on Monday, tendered their credentials to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for the upcoming Local Government Elections.

The ruling Party’s 14 aspiring Councilors for the Kanifing Administrative Area are, Inna Sanyang, old Jeswang Ward, Salieu Puye, Kololi Ward, Ajie Saptieu Jaye, London Corner ward, Ousman A. Darboe, Barthez Ward, Abdoulie Pierre, LatriKunda German Ward, Kabba Njie, Kanifing ward, FaKebba Darmmeh, Bakau ward, Lamin Conateh,  Bakau Old Town Cape point Ward, Abdoulie Sanyang, Tallinding South Ward, Talibo Kongira, Latrikunda Sabiji Ward, Lamin Sanjal Sanyang, Bundung Borehole Ward, Pa Samba Gissey, Bakoteh Ward, Mariama Chuballo Drammeh, Dippa kunda Ward, and Alpha Jarju FajiKunda Ward.The IEC Returning Officer, who is also the Vice-chairperson of the IEC, Joseph Colley, went through their documents such as asset declaration forms, and nomination forms showing the number of registered voters among other required documents.

After going through the documents, Mr Colley informed each candidate that their acceptance letter will be given to them after the scrutiny of their documents is concluded by the Electoral Commission.

Speaking to the Journalists after tendering his documents to the IEC, Pa Samba Gissey said the people of Bakoteh have confidence in him, which is why he was selected to represent them at the Council.

“I was working with the community, and I was serving them to the best of my ability. Based on that, they selected me to represent them at the Ward level, and I am happy to represent them at the Ward level,” he said.

Lamin Sanjal Sanyang, the Aspiring Councilor for Bundung Borehole Bantaba, advised his campaign team to do their campaign on the trail in peace.

Mr. Sanyang said his expectation of winning is very high, going by the results of the presidential election.

“My expectations for this Councilor election everybody knows, when you look at the statistics of the presidential election in building borehole Bantaba, we happened to score over 13 thousand votes in Bundungka Kunda constituency. And the United Democratic Party (UDP), which is also a stakeholder in this political arena, comes out close to 10 thousand. So for that being the case, we have the upper hand. Together with the support of the APRC coalition come April 15, it will be a historic victory for me and the rest of the 14 wards” He said.

NPP’s National President Dembo Bojang, fondly called Dembo By force, who attended the nomination,  said he is quite sure that his party is going to win all the seats.

“We are going to campaign tooth and Nail so that all of them will be victorious,” he added

Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie, the Minister of Youth and Sports, told the Journalists that they are hoping for a victory for all of their Candidates.

According to the IEC schedule,  candidates for the National Unity Party (NUP) and People’s Alliance Party (PAP) are expected to file their nomination papers at IEC Offices across the country tomorrow.
