The Gambia Police Force has confirmed a devastating car accident in Kafuta village, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and leaving 24 others in critical condition at Ndemban Clinic.
In a series of updates shared on their official Facebook page, the police reported that the accident initially left 43 people injured. However, a revised update on Sunday revealed that four lives had been lost, and 24 victims remain hospitalized.
“Several victims have been treated and discharged at Brikama Health Centre, while 24 remain admitted to Ndemban Clinic. Sadly, the number of confirmed fatalities has increased to four (4) from our last update. The driver, a 30-year-old male, is in police custody and will be arraigned in court tomorrow,” the police said.
The authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident and to ensure accountability.
