Mr. Simon I. Gomez and NPP Executive

The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) has announced that Mr. Simon I. Gomez, a former parliamentary candidate under the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has officially joined their ranks.
In a statement issued by the party, the NPP disclosed that Mr. Gomez, who contested the 2022 National Assembly elections for the Foni Bintang constituency under the GDC banner, declared his allegiance to the NPP following a meeting with the party’s Deputy Campaign Manager, Mr. Momodou Sabally. His decision was formally communicated during a courtesy visit to NPP Deputy Spokesperson, Hon. Seedy S.K. Njie, in Banjul.
“Mr. Simon I. Gomez, who contested the 2022 National Assembly elections for the Foni Bintang constituency under the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has officially joined the ruling National People’s Party (NPP). The announcement came following a meeting with the NPP’s Deputy Campaign Manager, Mr. Momodou Sabally, held the previous day. Mr. Gomez formalized his decision during a courtesy visit to the NPP’s Deputy Spokesperson, Hon. Seedy S.K. Njie, in Banjul,” NPP said.
A brief induction ceremony was held in Mr. Gomez’s honour, attended by key party figures including the NPP’s Administrative Secretary, Mr. Seedy Ceesay, and the West Coast Region Chairman, Mr. Lamin Jamba Jammeh.
“Welcoming Mr. Gomez, NPP officials expressed their appreciation for his decision to join the party, assuring him of their support. Hon. Njie emphasized that the NPP is founded on the principles of equality, inclusive representation, national unity, and social cohesion, values that respect and embrace the country’s ethnic and religious diversity,” NPP said.
According to the party, Mr. Gomez commended President Adama Barrow for his “transformative development agenda” and expressed his full commitment to supporting the President and the party. He also pledged to contribute his political experience and personal resources to promote national development through the NPP platform.
