‘Follow-up to 99 low risk contacts still ongoing’

Dr. Mustapha Bittaye Ag. Director of Health Services ministry of health has said that daily follow up to 99 low-risk contacts still ongoing to ascertain manifestation of symptoms of covid-19.
Dr. Bittaye disclosed this today (Tuesday) during the ministry’s daily covid-19 briefing held in Banjul, where he also said that 33 new laboratory test result received and all tested negative for covid-19

He further said that of those, 32 are results of new tests conducted and 1 is the result of a repeat test on the only active case, adding that 10 new persons (8 Gambians, 1 Senegalese and I Guinean taken into quarantine on account of travelling into country from Senegal.

According to Dr. Bittaye, currently they have 89 people on quarantine, adding that a total of 456 tests were conducted and 10 are positive.
“297 people completed quarantine, 645 recovered and 310 people completed follow-ups,” he said.
“Globally, since 31st December 2019 to 27th April 2020, a total of 3, 059, 081 case of covid-19 (in accordance with the applied case definitions in the affected countries) have been reported. Of those, 211, 202 deaths were registered and 919, 746 recovered from the disease.”

He revealed that Senegal recorded 736 confirmed cases, 284 recoveries and 9 deaths.
