Brufut Anti-Crime Unit foiled a suspected sheep rustling operation on Thursday, February 8th, intercepting a taxi carrying five animals believed to be stolen.
The yellow taxi, identified by registration number BJL5282X, was stopped during a routine patrol. The driver, however, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene upon seeing officers.
“The interception, part of our ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities in the area, yielded significant results. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. However, a search of the abandoned taxi uncovered five sheep suspected to be stolen,” the police said.
A thorough search of the abandoned taxi revealed the five sheep, unharmed but shaken. Both the animals and the vehicle are currently secured at the Brufut Anti-Crime unit while authorities continue their investigation.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the driver to contact the Brufut Anti-Crime Unit or their nearest police station.
