Former member of the military leadership that toppled ex-Gambian leader Dawda Kairaba Jawara, Edward Singhatey, has arrived in Gambia to face the Truth Commission. The Commission said he will likely appear on Wednesday or Thursday.
A source at the Truth Commission confirmed to Kerr Fatou that Singhatey has returned voluntarily to testify before the Commission.
Edward has been accused of several crimes including participation in the murder of former finance minister Ousman Koro Ceesay.
He was also adversely mentioned as being involved in the killings of over a dozen soldiers on November 11, 1994.
Singhatey held several positions in the military Government including the position of Defence Minister and vice chairman of the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council.
The former military man also served as the vice chairman of the ECOWAS Commission. Meanwhile, the Commission starts a new session on sexual violence next week. The theme is expected to continue until the coming three weeks.
