Essa Faal Formally Declares His Presidential Bid

Essa Mbye Faal has formally declared his intention to run for the presidency in the December 4 presidential election.
“I believe we can all join together to change this country. It is my generation, it is your generation and it is our generation so let us come together and develop this country. Our generation is being called to come and save our country that is why I am running for the presidency,” he announced.
Mr Faal said after several groups visited his home to talk to his father [now late] to let him [Essa] run for the office of the president. He said his father then encouraged him to accept people’s plea for him to run for the presidency.
“This is a very important journey not because of me, but for the state of this country. The country is regressing and people are suffering. The cost of living is skyrocketing and people are suffering to feed themselves and their families.
“Salaries are very low and the workers are not living in a state they deserve. Due to the low wages and poor condition of workers, corruption is more rampant now, than six years ago. And the ordinary people continue to suffer, people continue to die in the hospitals because of lack of equipment at the health facilities,” Essa Faal stated.
The former TRRC Lead Counsel made the declaration this evening at the American International University in Kanifing, before well-wishers and the media.
Essa M. Faal, until this development served as the Lead Counsel at the Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission.
He also served in the Gambian judiciary, prior to his appointment as a Judicial Affairs Officer by the United Nations; among other international appointments, he had served in or is serving in.
