The Staff Welfare Association of the University of Applied Science and Technology (USET) has announced the conclusion of its sit-down strike, effective Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

The strike, which began last week, was initiated in response to allegations of unpaid performance allowances by the university.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Staff Welfare Association expressed their satisfaction in informing the public: “The Staff Welfare Association of The University of Applied Science and Technology is pleased to inform the general public that USET staff have resumed duties today, the 8th October 2024. All staff are urged to pick up their tools and continue with their normal duties. Thank you for your cooperation.”

USET is at the forefront of pioneering engineering and entrepreneurship education in The Gambia. The university also offers training in Information Technology and teacher education, with an emphasis on enhancing the pool of highly trained STEM and TVET educators in the country.
