Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Works and an executive member of the National People’s Party (NPP), has issued a strong message to the opposition, asserting that their attempts to win the 2026 presidential election are futile.
Sillah, speaking at a ceremony in Brikama where President Barrow laid the foundation stone for the NPP’s regional bureau, declared, “There is no vacancy at Marina Parade,” referring to the State House located there. He went on to say, “We have already begun the fight for 2026,” highlighting the NPP’s determination to retain power.
Sillah’s comments come amidst recent activities by opposition groups, interpreted by him as campaigning for the upcoming election. He cited the NPP’s recruitment of people like Momodou Sabally and Ahmed Gitteh as evidence of the party’s commitment to securing victory.
Sillah further emphasized the NPP’s dedication by stating, “This West Coast bureau will be our headquarters, day and night, for our political activities.” He concluded by urging party members to “tie your wrist,” a Gambian expression signifying unwavering commitment.
Sillah’s remarks underscore the NPP’s confidence and its intention to maintain control of the presidency in the 2026 election.
