Lang Balla Saho, the President of the Dock and Maritime Workers Union, has been temporarily suspended by the Union following allegations of mishandling members’ funds.

In an official statement addressed to Lang Balla Saho, the Union notified him of his suspension from office, citing concerns regarding the purported mismanagement of members’ funds. Until further notice, Saho is instructed to refrain from entering Union premises or utilizing any resources without explicit authorization.

“In reference to the caption above, we are writing to inform you of the decision made by Dock and Maritime workers Union regarding your suspension from office. This decision was reached due to concerns over the alleged mismanagement of members’ funds. During your suspension, you are required to refrain from entering the premises or accessing company resources without explicit authorization,” the Union said in a statement shared with Kerr Fatou.

The Union specified that Saho’s suspension would endure until the completion of a thorough investigation and the subsequent determination of his status. Additionally, Saho is required to transfer all pertinent materials, documents, and responsibilities associated with his position to the appropriate authorities or designated successor during this transitional phase.

“Following a thorough review and consideration of the situation, the members have unanimously agreed to constitute an interim committee to oversee the affairs of the union president’s office during the period of investigation,” the Union said.

In response to the situation, the Union announced the establishment of an interim committee entrusted with overseeing the functions of the president’s office throughout the investigation period. The interim committee vows to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and safeguarding members’ interests with diligence.

Emphasizing the importance of impartial investigation procedures, the Union reiterated its commitment to fairness and due process. They underscored the gravity of the decision, emphasizing that it reflects the consensus of the Union’s membership. Saho is urged to fully cooperate with the interim committee to facilitate a prompt and comprehensive investigation. The Union pledges to keep all parties informed of developments and remains receptive to constructive dialogue aimed at resolution.
