Despite Outstanding Performance in Their European Clubs; Sowe, Siyan Left Out of Scorpions Squad
By Buba Gagigo
Tom Saintfiet has released his final 25-man-squad for the Scorpions’ AFCON Qualifiers at home against Angola and Away against DR Congo; but he left Ali Sowe and Sheriff Siyan out of the team once again; despite the duo having significant minutes in the UEFA EUROPA League with their teams.
Ali Sowe, 26, plays as a forward on loan in the Russian club Rostov from CSKA Sofia; while Sheriff Sinyan 24 plays for Molde FK in Norway.
Meanwhile, Ebrima Colley and Hamza Barry are out on injury. And Modou Secka Barrow is out due to Covid-19 travel restriction protocols.
However Pa Modou Jagne and Ebrima Sohna who are currently without clubs are included in the final squad.
The Scorpions will take on Angola at home on 25th March, and DR Congo on 29th March 2021 respectively.
A win and a draw from these encounters can see The Gambia through to their maiden appearance at the continental tournament.
The Scorpions’ Coach is expected to tell the press about the basis of his team selection in a pre-match press conference on the eve of the clash with Angola.
