Veteran politician Dembo Bojang also known as Dembo Byforce, has been unanimously elected the National President of the National People’s Party (NPP) for life.
“Ba Dembo Byforce, hereby unanimously elected as the National President of NPP for life,” Seedy Njie, NPP’s Deputy Spokesperson announced on day 2 of the Party’s first-ever National congress.
Dembo Byforce has been the National President of the Party since its inception in January 2019.
Dembo Byforce is also the special Religious Affairs adviser to the President of the Republic of the Gambia, Adama Barrow.
Mr. Bojang was a prominent member of the main Opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) for 22 years. He joined President Barrow’s camp after he fell out with the UDP in 2018.
President Barrow in January 2019 formed his political party and name Dembo Byforce as the National President of the Party. And by this election, Mr. Bojang would be the Party’s National President for the rest of his life.
The election of other executive positions would take place later in the day.
