Commonwealth Games: Gambia Finish 6th In Men’s 4×100m Relay Final

The Gambia’s men 4×100m relay team finished 6th position with a timing of 40:10 seconds at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

“40:18 sec in the Commonwealth Games 4×100 relay final. They finished in the sixth (6th) position. Congratulations Team GAMBIA,” The Gambia National Olympics Committee (GNOC) said in a statement.

The Gambia finished 4th in the race with a timing of 33:77 seconds that qualified them to the final.

The team would now shift their attention to the 5thIslamic Games in Konya, Turkey commencing on Tuesday.

Twenty-five (25) athletes would be representing the Gambia at the 2021 Islamic Games in Konya, Turkey from 9th to 19th August 2022.

The Islamic Solidarity Games, a multinational, multi-sport event, involves the elite athletes of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation who compete in a variety of sports. 

The Solidarity Games were initially created to strengthen Islamic camaraderie and reinforce the values of Islam, primarily to the youth.
