The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Coalition of Progressive Gambians (CoPG), Lamin Bojang, has reiterated his group’s intention to protest later this month, as planned.
The latest remarks by the group followed its meeting with the Supreme Islamic Council (SIC) and other groups, earlier Monday.
“Still, the dialogue has to continue because we are seeking for our demands and that hasn’t changed. If we are going to cancel the planned demonstration, on what basis are we going to cancel it? We want our demands to be addressed first. We have not cancelled (the planned November 11 protest) even after the meeting with the SIC today. It’s possible for us to meet them (SIC) again tomorrow over the issue. If there should be any changes, it should be on the side of the government to meet our demands. SIC and other groups we met at the meeting today want us to cancel the planned protest, but we have also told them for that to happen, government has to come out and tell to us how they intend to meet our demands,” Lamin Bojang said.
The Coalition of Progressive Gambians, which planned to protect on 11th November are demanding the government to address the high cost of living, promote transparency and provide better services for the country, among others.
