Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the ongoing misperceptions harbored by the United States towards China, highlighting unfulfilled promises and persistent attempts to suppress China through unilateral sanctions. Speaking at a press conference, he emphasized the importance of objective and rational engagement between the two nations.
“There has been some improvement in the China-US relationship since the summit in San Francisco. This meets the interests and wishes of the people of both countries and the world, but it has to be pointed out that US misperception towards China continues, and US promises are not truly fulfilled. The US has been devising various tactics to suppress China and kept lengthening its unilateral sanctions list.
“If the US says one thing and does another, where is its credibility as a Major country? If it gets angry whenever it hears the word China, where is its confidence as a Major country? If it only wants itself to prosper but denies other countries’ development, where is international fairness? If it persistently monopolizes the high end of the value chain and keeps China at the low end, where is fairness in Competition?” He asked.
Challenging the notion that China poses a threat to the US, Wang Yi asserted that the real challenge lies within the US itself. He urged the US to abandon its obsession with suppressing China, warning that such actions would ultimately harm itself. Instead, he advocated for proactive and pragmatic exchanges to foster stable and sustainable relations.
“The challenge for the US comes from itself, not from China. If the US is obsessed with suppressing China, it will eventually harm itself. We urged the US to be clear about the trend of the time, view China’s development objectively and rationally, engage in exchanges with China proactively and pragmatically, and act to fulfill the commitment we hope that it will work with China to bring the relationship back on the track of stable, sound and sustainable development,” He said.
Highlighting the significance of the 45th anniversary of China-US diplomatic ties, Wang Yi reiterated President Xi Jinping’s emphasis on people-to-people connections, grassroots engagement, and youth involvement. He expressed China’s readiness to strengthen dialogue and promote friendly exchanges across various sectors to enhance mutual understanding and resolve misunderstandings.
“This year marks the 45th anniversary of China-US diplomatic relations, President Xi Jinping pointed out that the hope of the China-US relationship lies in the people, its foundations are in the grassroots connections, its future depends on youth and its vitality comes from submerged exchanges. China is always ready to to strengthen dialogue and exchanges with the US and promote friendly exchanges in various sectors so as to build more bridges for mutual understanding and remove unnecessary misunderstandings we believe the two sides are fully able to find the right path for the two different major countries to get along with each other,” He said.
Emphasizing the critical importance of the China-US relationship to global well-being, Wang Yi outlined China’s consistent approach based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. He stressed the need for both nations to adhere to these principles for constructive interaction, underscoring the potential for collaboration to benefit not only the two countries but also the world at large.
“The China Us relationship is critical to the well-being of the two peoples and to the future of Humanity and the world, no matter how the international landscape evolves China always keeps its US policy stable and consistent and always handles the relationship with a sense of responsibility for history, for the people and the world.
“Our position is three principles supposed by President Xi Jinping, mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and a win-win cooperation. They are a statement of experience and lessons of the 50+ years of the China-US relationship and it represent the right way for interaction between major countries, they should be observed and acted upon by both sides, specifically mutual respect is the pre-condition because interactions sustained only when differences in social and political systems are respected and acknowledged,” He said.
Referring to the understanding reached between the two presidents at the San Francisco summit, Wang Yi highlighted President Biden’s reassurance that the US does not seek to alter China’s system or form alliances against it. He emphasized the US’s acknowledgment of China’s prosperity and its commitment to constructive engagement rather than condemnation or suppression.
“Peaceful coexistence is the baseline because conflict and confrontation between two major countries Like China and the US have unimaginable consequences. Win-win cooperation is the goal because when working together China and the US can do great things, conducive to the two countries and the world. at the historical meeting in San Francisco last November the two presidents reached a common understanding and charted a course for stabilizing the China-US relationship and bringing it back on the track of sound development. President Xi Jinping elaborated on China’s fundamental approach and principles position on developing relations with the United States.
“President Biden reiterated that the US does not seek to change China’s system, does not seek to revitalize its alliance against China, and does not support Taiwan’s independence he also stated that the US is glad to see prosperity in China and does not seek to condemn or suppress China’s development or to decapo with China,” He said.
