Chaos Hits NPP Congress: Suku Singhateh Summoned To State House As Election Put On Hold
By Buba Gagigo
Chaos has hit the National People’s Party (NPP)’s Congress currently underway at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Center in Bijilo as Suku Signateh and Essa Dampha refused to withdraw their bids for positions that Demba Sabally and Seedy Njie are vying for.
“Everybody will walk out of the Congress. That is what we are holding to right now. Demba Sabally is the first Deputy National President. Suku Singhateh wants to contest for that position but the president doesn’t want Suku to contest against Demba Sabally because he knew Demba Sabally will lose in an election. The president wants Suku to go for the second Deputy, but Suku is insisting on an election. This has put congress at a stalemate as all elections to the executive body have been put on hold right now. Suku has been being summoned to State House to meet the president in a bid to talk him out of running for the position in contention.,” our source at the Congress said.
Our source added that: “Seedy Njie is currently the Deputy spokesperson but he is being challenged by Essa Dampha for the Deputy spokesperson position. The president wants Essa Dampha to withdraw but Essa is refusing to budge,”
As we go press, the president has made his way to the congress site and Suku Singhateh is reportedly asked to go home.
