Brikama Sports Committee Gets New Media Officer

A popular Gambian sports journalist, Ebrima KB Sonko has been elected the new media officer of Brikama Sports Committee, replacing Lamin Saidy alias Malta Man.
Among others, he promised a timely relaying of information to the masses, and thanked Brikama Sports Committee, for their support.
“I am truly humbled by the support and encouragement I get from friends and well-wishers; it will help keep me focused and motivated for the duration of my time in office as a humble servant of Brikama, the best town in the world. As a liaison officer of the Brikama Sports Committee, I will make sure that any information that is for public consumption is relayed to the masses regularly and timely.
“Who doesn’t love being the winner of a contest and being cheered on by their supporters? We know that we do. I’m thanking all the delegates for the nomination and the votes because if not for their support and trust, I might not be able to serve my community as a media officer. I wouldn’t do justice without mentioning my friends who persuaded me to vie for the position. Special thanks to Sarjo Ganso Sowe and ML Drammeh – Journalist, especially later who make sure that I do decline my intention to vie for the position at the last minute,” the young journalist told Kerr Fatou today.
Sonko defeated his opponent Lamin Saidy at a much-contested election on Sunday, securing 38 votes, while Saidy got 11 of total votes cast.
Following his election, many people took to social media to congratulate the young journalist.
“Congratulations to my able boss (Ebrima KB Sonko) for being elected as the Media Officer/PRO of Brikama Sports Committee for the next 4 years starting from the 12th day of June, 2022. May Allah guide and protect you in office,” one of his followers reacted on Facebook.
Another follower stated: “Congratulations brother Ebrima KB Sonko. [I] am so much proud of you. Your love for Brikama is immeasurable. I have no doubt that you will deliver beyond what is expected of you. Congrats once more.”
Ebrima KB Sonko, also the Editor-in-Chief of Sports at LamToro News, is a Diploma student at the Media Academy for Journalism and Communication (MAJaC).
He studied Social and Environmental Studies (S.E.S) and Physical and Health Education (P.H.E) Gambia college school of Education, after his graduation from Muslim Senior Secondary School
Fondly called K.B, the young man previously worked as a reporter and presenter at City Limit Radio; editor and reporter at Logic Sports Net; Sports presenter at Home Digital FM; reporter and a sub editor at Plus.gm; reporter at Eye Africa TV online; and did report with Gambia Sports.
