The combat shoes presented as evidence by the State, alleged to have been worn by Ousainou Bojang during the Sukuta-Jabang Traffic Lights shooting, were found not to fit his feet.
This revelation followed a request by Bojang’s lawyer, Lamin J. Darboe, to test the shoes in court to determine their authenticity. Bojang complied and attempted to wear the shoes in the courtroom, but they were visibly too small for him, with his heels protruding from the back.
Before the test, Bojang informed the court that he had previously told former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdoulie Sanyang that the shoes belonged to his elder brother, Famara Bojang.
“I tested the shoes in the presence of the IGP, and they could not fit me. I told the IGP, you see these are not my shoes. But the IGP got angry about it,” Ousainou Bojang told the court.
During the courtroom demonstration, Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court asked Bojang to stand, so the court could observe.
“The court observed that exhibit P26 (Shoes) could not fit the 1st accused person, Ousainou Bojang,” Hon. Justice Jaiteh remarked.
Following this development, Bojang’s lawyer requested an adjournment to address issues related to the trial. The court granted the request, adjourning the case to January 13, 2025.
