Breaking News: Touma Njie declares herself leader of PPP

Touma Njie has declared herself as the Secretary General and Leader of People’s Progressive Party, and further declared Pa Ousainou Saho as her deputy.
“I declare myself the Party leader and Secretary General of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP). This will be communicated to the IEC and as agreed by all regional chairs, they all declared Pa Ousainou Saho as the Deputy Secretary and the Deputy party leader of the party,” she said
She made the declaration during a press conference on Monday.
Njie is the National Assembly Member for Banjul South under PPP ticket. She contested the position of Secretary General and Party Leader at the congress but lost to her opponent Kebba E. Jallow. According to the congress record, she got 2 votes, while Kebba E. Jallow got 92 votes; while Pa Ousainou Saho who was supposed to run for the Deputy Secretary General and Party Leader against Muhammed Ndow left the congress claiming that the congress process wasn’t fair.
