A reliable source has informed Kerr Fatou that a former Standard Chartered Bank employee from The Gambia was tragically murdered at his home in Brufut Heights around 4 PM on Monday.

A source told Kerr Fatou, “Ruben Andrews’ wife discovered him lifeless, tied to the bed—he had been strangled. The watchman is nowhere to be found, and his phone remains switched off, though his shoes were found inside the victim’s house. Additionally, the house help did not report to work. Both the watchman and the house help are Sierra Leonean nationals, while the victim was Gambian.”

Our source reported that police investigators arrived at the crime scene at 18:13.

“The wife of the decease stated that she found their closet ransacked, and some of their valuable items and cash in different currencies were stolen,” said our source.

According to our source, the missing items included two laptops (one old and one new), three mobile phones, some foreign currency, an envelope containing Gambian Dalasi, as well as a wallet with Dalasi and some CFA currency.

Our source further revealed that the deceased was with the watchman and the maid in the morning. However, by the time his wife arrived, both the watchman and the maid were nowhere to be found.

“A ladder was found, which was presumed to have been used by the culprit(s) to climb uptairs to the second floor of the house. A cutlass was also found lying on the Bahama grass. A blue rope that was used to tie the hands and legs of the deceased was found to be the same rope found at the watchman’s quarters,” the source added.

Furthermore, our source revealed that the maid sent a text message to the deceased’s wife at 18:42, informing her of her resignation and citing ongoing issues with her husband as the reason. CCTV footage from the morning captured both the watchman and the maid within the compound.

The source further stated that the body was transported to Ndemban Clinic, where the deceased was confirmed dead on arrival before being transferred to the EFSTH Mortuary in Banjul.

When contacted, the police PRO confirmed the alleged murder case but stated that he could not provide any further details at this time.
