The Gambia Police Force has reported yet another armed robbery, this time targeting a Western Union bureau in Kunkujang Badjie Estate. According to the police, three unidentified men, one armed with a pistol, entered the bureau, restrained the employee, Yankuba Darboe, and stole cash amounting to D77,275 before fleeing.

“At 2:56 PM today in Kunkujang Badjie Estate, a case of robbery with violence was reported at a Western Union bureau. According to the complainant, three unknown men, one armed with a pistol, entered the bureau and tied up the employee, Yankuba Darboe, before forcefully taking cash totaling D77,275. The suspects then fled the scene,” the police said.

The police also confirmed a second robbery on the same day at Access Bank in Brusubi, which occurred between 1:33 PM and 1:35 PM. The incident lasted approximately three minutes.

“According to CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, three men entered the bank from behind, accessing the banking hall through the main entrance. The footage shows all three men carrying pistols, although only one of them pulled out a short gun, prompting the bank’s security officers to flee and hide. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported inside the bank. The robbers were seen collecting an unidentified amount of money from the teller’s counter before exiting through the same route they entered,” the police said.

An eyewitness reported that the robbers escaped in a Benz V-Boot vehicle with no license plates.

The police are currently investigating both incidents and have deployed officers to the scenes to gather evidence and pursue the suspects.
