Musa Yali Batchilly, Secretary General and Party Leader of the Gambia Action Party (GAP), has made a heartfelt appeal for peace and unity among political stakeholders in The Gambia.
“As political stakeholders and leaders entrusted with the mandate to serve the people, I urge all of us to exercise maximum restraint and wisdom in guiding our militants and supporters. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that The Gambia remains peaceful and stable. Let us advise our followers to embrace peace, refrain from violence, and avoid the use of provocative language that could incite unrest or trigger conflict,” the GAP leader said.
The GAP leader highlighted the importance of unity and constructive dialogue, even in the face of differing opinions.
“We must demonstrate leadership by fostering harmony and promoting a culture of respect, tolerance, and mutual understanding. To the Inspector General of Police and all security apparatus: your role is critical in maintaining law and order. Be vigilant and proactive in preventing any actions that could jeopardize the peace and stability of our beloved country. The Gambia is our only home, and we must safeguard it with all our efforts and resources,” he said.
Batchilly further urged political leaders to place the nation’s well-being above individual or partisan ambitions.
“Together, we can ensure that peace and stability remain the cornerstones of our democracy and development,” the GAP leader said.
