The independent electoral commission (IEC) has announced that Bakary Saibou Sanneh, an independent candidate for Brikama Area Council Chairperson, has withdrawn his candidature ahead of the chairmanship elections.
“The Independent Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that Bakary Saibou Sanneh has withdrawn his candidature from the Chairmanship Elections of 20th May 2023. The Returning Officer for Brikama Administrative Area, Anthony Robert Secka has duly accepted the withdrawal of Bakary Saibou Sanneh: Independent Candidate in the Brikama Administrative Area,” IEC said.
Bakary Saibou Sanneh was nominated by the APRC “No To Alliance” group after Ibrahim JS Sanneh had difficulty in obtaining his leave letter from his employer, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Sanneh has since received and submitted his leave letter to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and has his nomination accepted.
