The Brikama Area Council (BAC), led by Chairman Yankuba Darboe, has announced the deployment of a 5,000-liter water pumping machine to tackle the flooding issue at Brikama Central Market.
“Our emergency response service boosted with a deployment of 5000 (Five Thousand) litres water pumping machines to drain the flooded waters at the Brikama Central Market. BAC, according to the statement, is tackling years of neglect and inadequate investment in the region’s infrastructure, including the drainage system of Brikama.
“To mitigate these challenges, BAC now deploys the said pumping machine and septic tank to mitigate the challenges facing our visitors and vendors at Brikama Central Market until a permanent drainage system can be developed in the coming years,” The Statement Said.
The statement highlighted that the new water pumping machine will also allow for quick drainage of the Nyambi Junction area within 30 minutes after rainfall, regardless of the intensity. This efficiency will enable the septic tank truck to focus on clearing the Fish Market area and the mosque area of the market.
“The new water pumping machine enables us to drain the Nyambi Junction area of the market in just 30 minutes no matter the level downfall, after every rainfall during the working hours on weekdays. This machine further enables our septic tank truck to concentrate on draining the Fish Market area of the market and the mosque area of the market. Under the new leadership of Chairman Darboe, BAC is focused and committed to developing our region by fighting corruption and investing in our people and region,” the statement concluded.
