Major Lamin Sanyang, the spokesman for the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed rumors about an alleged coup attempt, describing it as false.

In an interview with Kerr Fatou, the GAF spokesperson said that “there were audios circulating on social media that some ex-officers and current officers are planning a coup. It is not true. We investigated it and concluded that the information is false.”
Asked as to who were behind this rumor, Major Sanyang revealed that it could be former President Jammeh supporters who are behind this misinformation and said they believe that they are the ones spreading the false news through audios”
However, he assured that the Army remains vigilant.
