APRC Sympathises With Sanyang; Calls On Gov’t To Investigate

The opposition Alliance for Patriotic, Re-Orientation, and Construction (APRC) has expressed sympathy with the people of Sanyang on the alleged killing of a Gambian by a Senegalese; and called on the Government to investigate the matter which resulted in a violent protest.
“We sympathise with the people of Sanyang on this irreplaceable loss of life, and properties damaged. In the circumstance; the party deplores and is worried with the insecurity of most communities within the country.
“We therefore, call on [the] Government to immediately investigate and resolve the circumstance that led to this incident,” the party said in a press release.
Monday a Senegalese national was alleged to have killed a-30-year old Gambian, Gibriel Ceesay in the Kombo South settlement. The incident led to a violent protest by the youth in the village. The protest resulted in a clash between youth and the police. According to the Gambia Red Cross Society, 23 people sustained injury from the protest who were later rushed to Sanyang hospital.
