The Alliance for Patriotic, Reorientation and Construction (APRC) formally announced that they would form a coalition with the National People’s Party (NPP) for the December 4 presidential election.
“We are aware that some members believe that we [APRC] should have an alliance with GDC. We are aware that some members believe that we should have an alliance with UDP, and we are aware that some people want us to have an alliance with the NPP. But power belongs to our people that is why we engaged them through a nationwide tour. After the review with the verse majority of our members, we decided to notify our partner that we agreed as a party and we should now do a signing ceremony. The ceremony of the MoU signing between the APRC and the NPP took place on the 2nd of September 2021,” Fabakary Tombong Jatta, the APRC leader said.
Tombong Jatta said they acted in the supreme interest of the Gambian people and this country. He said following their nationwide tour, their National Executive Committee organized a review meeting from Kanifing Municipality to Jarra in the Lower River Region and they were amazed by the enthusiasm of their members upon receiving this message.
“We have already concluded alliance talks with one political party that’s the NPP. The coalition is not about NPP or APRC but the Gambia. That was why the committee was able to reach an agreement,” he said.
The former ruling party made the announcement today, at a press conference.
