APRC condemns ‘attack’ on Gambian timber trader by ‘Senegalese soldier’
The allege attack on the Gambian national was not by ECOMIG but Senegalese soldiers who often time operate on the Gambian side of the border based of the two countries’ March 2018 defense agreement, Kerr Fatou has learned.
The leader of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction party, Fabakary Tombong Jatta, has condemned the allege beating of a Gambian national by Senegalese forces.
An unidentified Gambian man who deals in timber was reportedly beaten in Sibanor by Senegalese forces who are at the Gambian border based on the defense agreement the two countries signed about a year ago.
In March this year, Gambia and Senegal has signed a defense cooperation on extradition and cross-border prosecution.
The two countries also agreed to join hands in combatting illegal logging of timber from Casamance.
