The Focal Person of the Youth Connekt Gambia, Basiru Jaye has confirmed that the Youth Connekt Gambia 2nd Edition previously slated for 15th September has been rescheduled to 16th September 2022.
Mr Jaye said the change of date is due to the State of Nation Address by President Adama Barrow slated for 15th September.
He said this year’s event is expected to be presided over by President Barrow Gambia, the United Nation Development Programme representative, the Minister of Youth and Sports, and the chairman of the National Youth Council, among others.
“It connects people together. It brings all development actors on the table to discuss about the issues of the young people. We have changed the date, because we learn that the President of the Gambia (Adama Barrow) will be having a State of Nation Address on the same day (15th September 2022). So, we moved it to on the 16th, 17th, and 18th September Now, instead of 15th, 16th and 17th September,” he told Kerr Fatou.
He said this year’s event is mainly to assess the youth connekt Africa goals.
“…like the contribution that we are doing towards achieving the post youth connekt Africa goals, the opportunities and also the challenges and the main theme for this year is Accelerating Investment in Youth “Resilient Youth, Resilient Gambia”. so the theme is very technical. If you accelerate the investment in youth you will have a resilient Youth. If you have resilient youth, (you) will have resilient Gambia,” Mr Jaye said.
