Yankuba Darboe, the United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate for Brikama Area Council Chairmanship election has revealed his intentions of introducing Agro Business in the Gambia when elected into office as chairman of the Brikama Area Council.
“Infact my plan is for you not to go and sell your goods in Brikama anymore, we send people to come and sell all your goods and give you your money. I want to help our youths by introducing Agro Business. The Chinese and the Indians are doing it in the Gambia, why can’t we do it so that our Youths can benefit? It will help to be employed in their country and reduce Illegal migration,” the UDP BAC candidate said.
Yankuba Darboe also called on the electorates to vote for him to cover what he described as holes on Brikama Area Council (BAC);
“I heard a lot of complaints about boreholes in other village also but the reason you are not having them is because I not voted onto office. The among of rates we are playing can drill a lot of boreholes and very easy. The reason We have borehole problems, road problems and street light problems is because there is a big hole in our council that we should cover.
“If I am voted in, I will cover all the holes and fix all the borehole machines thus we can have good gardens and be able to sell our goods without any problem. But also renovate the market in Brikama for the selling of your goods. The market is very dirty and sometimes you pay your duty rates but their police will still go after you. I will make sure we don’t have that again,” he said.
Yankuba Darboe made these remarks in Foni Bintang as he kickstart his campaign on Saturday.
